It all started in the back of a running shop in the Wasatch Mountains of the United States of America. The shop realized that many runners from all over the world came into the shop complaining of pain in their knees and feet. Golden Harper, who had studied running injuries in college, quickly realized that traditional running shoes did not fit the foot properly and had too much impact on the foot. A light bulb went on in Harper\'s head, so he decided to help athletes achieve their sporting goals without pain, for a healthier, happier and more natural life and run. Thus began the experiments in his home oven, trying to melt the soles and trying to eliminate the excess material. Golden Harper after several attempts to modify the traditional running shoes, he began to create shoes with zero differential between the heel and forefoot, to allow a more natural stride, but that was not all, in fact he decided to widen the toe to allow the toes to relax more naturally to alleviate the problems that athletes manifested on their feet. So Golden Harper gave birth to ALTRA.
